NACAA Requests Comment Deadline Extension for Cost-Benefit Reform ANPRM

June 26, 2018 – NACAA joined with a group of associations representing state and local environmental agency associations to request that EPA: 1) extend the comment period for its advance notice of proposed rulemaking (ANPRM), entitled “Increasing Consistency and Transparency in Considering Costs and Benefits in the Rulemaking Process”; and 2) hold at least three hearings to gather public input on the issues raised by the advance notice.  According to the letter, “Because this proposal could fundamentally alter EPA’s basis for understanding the benefits and costs of proposals in policymaking, its implications for decision-making warrant careful study, the highest transparency in the development of a record on which to set our common direction, and broad public discussion. “  NACAA was joined on the letter by the National Governors Association, the Environmental Council of States, the Association of Clean Water Administrators, the Association of State Drinking Water Administrators, the Association of State and Territorial Solid Waste Management Officials, the State Wetland Manager Association, the Association of Air Pollution Control Agencies and the National Association of Regulatory Utility Officials.  For further information: click here.
