NACAA Volkswagen Settlement Resources

Description

As part of the settlement between the United States government and Volkswagen (VW) over the company’s alleged use of “defeat devices” designed to cheat on federal emission tests for diesel cars, a State Mitigation Trust Fund was established. This trust provides funding to each state for eligible projects that will reduce nitrogen oxides.

State VW Settlement Programs NACAA has compiled a repository for state and local agency information and links pertaining to the Volkswagen (VW) settlement and the Mitigation Trust Fund. The information accessible from the repository includes state and local agency webpages, public outreach materials, drafts of documents, etc. This repository is periodically updated to reflect new information. If you have updates, please send them to mdouglas@4cleanair.org.

NASEO-NACAA VW Settlement Working Group The National Association of State Energy Officials (NASEO) and NACAA have a joint program – The VW Settlement Working Group – to assist states in developing and carrying out their programs under the VW Mitigation Trust Fund.

Quarterly Conference Calls – NASEO and NACAA host quarterly conference calls for state and local agencies participating in the VW Settlement Trust. During the calls, participants have the opportunity to share information with their fellow state agencies and to ask for input and advice from one another. Notes from each call are distributed afterward, providing a valuable resource for those wishing to refer back to the discussions. Contact Mary Sullivan Douglas mdouglas@4cleanair.org of NACAA for more information or to be added to the email distribution list.

Compilation of Notes – A compilation of the notes from previous NASEO-NACAA Working Group calls is available here.
