July 26, 2018 – NACAA has begun exploring whether there may be air pollution issues of concern to the state and local clean air agencies relating to perflouroakyls (PFAS). A NACAA factsheet can be found introducing the issues here.
The Interstate Technology and Regulatory Council (ITRC) has a useful, highly technical online document that includes fact sheets on sources, air-related exposure and air deposition issues, among others.
The US EPA site on PFAS includes information about the Clean Air Act as it relates to PFAS, and includes other technical information.
The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention’s (CDC) and the Agency for Toxic Substances and Disease Registry (ATSDR) website has a number of public health information resources for local and state agencies including data from possible exposure and health effects in more than 30 communities across the United States.
A number of states have public information pages on PFAS, primarily focused on water issues rather than air. New York and Washington are two examples. This presentation by New Hampshire’s air agency provides an excellent detailed roundup of the issues for air agencies, in particular relating to modeling and monitoring.
